The EDWOSB (Economically Disadvantaged Woman Owned Small Business) provides all of the benefits of the WOSB certification. Also, EDWOSB allows for set-aside contracting opportunities in additional NAICS Codes. These NAICS Codes and the number of EDWOSB firms and their average sales are seen in Table 2 at the bottom of this newsletter.
Analysis
The total amount of sales in these NAICS codes is roughly $733MM. The set-aside dollars in this NAICS code for most businesses would not justify the additional effort of obtaining the ED (Economically Disadvantaged) addition to the WOSB certification.
However, that does not affect the fact that EDWOSB firms have more significant revenue than WOSB firms. See Table below:

EDWOSB firms, due to the owners' net worth restrictions should, in theory, be smaller concerns on average than WOSB firms. However EDWOSB firms are out performing WOSB firms regarding federal contracting on a per firm basis. Therefore it is likely that EDWOSB firms are likely given additional consideration by contracting officers when they award contracts.
